What Is Amaranth?

Amaranth wood, more commonly known as Purpleheart, is a dense, violet-colored exotic wood. We have a strong passion for creating projects with natural woods, most notably the favorite being Amaranth. Natural woods exhibit some of the most beautiful textures, colors, and aromas available on earth. Our passion for quality craftsmanship is key to exemplify natural wood’s elements. We believe there is truly something to be said about owning a unique, one-of-a-kind created product, as opposed to something that has been mass-produced. At Amaranth Wood Creations, we strive to provide products that customers will be proud to own and say “There is no other piece like this in the world!”.  This is why at Amaranth, all products are “wood creations from the HEART”!  

Hi, I’m Francine!

I began woodworking when I was 12 years old where I worked in my family’s wood refinishing business. I continued my wood creation projects into college and studied graphic design at Cal State Dominguez Hills. During my time in college is when I entered into the picture framing industry. I was in picture framing industry for over 30 years and was a  Certified Picture Framer (CPF) for 25 of those. During that time, I won numerous other awards from other reputable companies within the industry including: Larson Juhl, “Design Star“, Tru Vue “Frameable Moments“, and “Design Star-Chopped All Stars”. My experience in the picture framing industry has also allowed me to expand my skill set into additional creative aspects such as Period Architecture, Wood Carvings, Joinery, Wood Finishes, and Gilding. 

Hi, I’m Everest!

Starting before I could talk, I was exposed to the world of wood. My mom has always been working with wood, pictures frames, decks, custom boxes, anything wood! As I began to trend my own path the ability to use tools and operate equipment became a reality. From 10 years old onward my woodworking desire became apparent. At 17 custom picture framing was the first step towards the industry. Attending framing expo’s and entering competitions was a wonderful starting point for the world . There, I was able to focus on detail, design and execution of a specific project. Moving forward I began apprenticing for a General Contractor on a high end custom home at 19. Spending 4 years on this project I was exposed to every aspect of construction. During this time my niche was discovered. Carpentry! From setting doors and windows; to installing baseboard, casing, crown moulding and cabinets my career took root.
